The world of interior design

There have been many times when I have flicked through my pile of Interior Design Magazines, in the hope that each page will inspire me, to make my home even better.

They take you on journeys through Period Homes, show you 25 Most Beautiful Homes and set your hearts on fire with Elle Decoration.

What ever your Interior style and how you would like to create your home is written in many a book, but what is your heart telling you? The key to every home is in the planning and preparation, the more time you spend, the greater the experience. If you are lacking in time or inspiration, then engage specialist help with a reputable Interior Designer, who can help you through your journey.

Interior Designers come in all shapes and sizes, including budgets and fees. My advise to you, is to go with your gut feelings. You should know within 5 minutes, if this person or team, will deliver to you. They should clearly share your ideas and demonstrate how they can put them in to your home, with experience and knowledge, without going off on a tangent with some explosive idea that will send shivers up your spine.

Make sure that you research your professional, read reviews, look at past projects and be informed, prior to engaging them. Set out a clear budget plan for each room and a schedule timeline of when you would like to carry out and complete these works. Once all this initial research has been done and that first site meeting has come and gone, you can then start to create visuals, written reports, which would be followed by Mood Boards.

Enjoy your journey, embrace the change and work alongside your Designer… and most importantly, Love your Home.
